TriMet to add service in Gresham area

Starting Sunday, Aug. 25, buses will arrive on Line 25-Glisan/Rockwood every 30 minutes for much of the day, every day. That’s a big upgrade!

Get ready, Gresham: TriMet is expanding bus service in late August.

And that’s not all: Line 25 will also be extended to serve Reynolds High School and Mt. Hood Community College. Direct service to these schools and the Gateway/NE 99th Ave Transit Center is something riders have been asking for, and TriMet is answering.

Riders will also be able to take the extended bus line to local destinations like the Troutdale Library and Wood Village Town Center. Visit trimet.org to plan your trip. To see the extended route, be sure to select a date on or after Aug. 25 in TriMet’s Trip Planner.

Improvements like these are part of TriMet’s Forward Together service concept. This long-range, tri-county service concept is updating TriMet’s bus service, making transit a better option for more people now and in the future. TriMet’s goal is to improve connections, increase ridership, and provide more and better service for people who depend on transit.

Community input has shaped the Forward Together concept. TriMet continues to gather feedback and hear directly from the public at open houses and other events, both in person and virtually. Those responses help to guide the improvements TriMet is making throughout the region.

Additionally, starting Aug. 25, TriMet is adding several new bus lines that will run in the late-night and early-morning hours. One of these is Line 287-Blue Eastside Bus, which will run between Gresham and Downtown Portland after midnight.

Shifting the last MAX trips of the night onto buses, when relatively few people are riding, gives TriMet more time for routine maintenance and cleaning in between nighttime and morning service. Right now, MAX has the second-shortest overnight maintenance window of any light rail system in the United States.

More overnight maintenance will reduce disruptions to MAX service during peak hours, both planned and unplanned. More overnight cleaning will improve the rider experience on MAX, providing more attractive, inviting and comfortable interior spaces on trains used by tens of thousands of people every day.
